Business in the Online Space – Let’s Talk About the “Expert” Problem

Kirsty Carr

Let’s get honest about what’s really going on in the online business world.

In this episode, I’m pulling apart some of the noise, especially around the word “expert.” Since the rise of the online business boom during and post-COVID, we’ve seen a flood of newly qualified people claiming authority in spaces where experience and depth actually matter. And it’s creating confusion, mistrust, and in some cases, legal risk.

I share my thoughts on what it means to truly own your expertise and why honesty about your level of experience isn’t a weakness, it’s a strength. Whether you're offering services or hiring someone, due diligence matters. We should all be asking more questions, checking credentials, and getting clear on whether the person we’re working with has the knowledge and the experience to deliver what they promise.

It’s not about gatekeeping. It’s about protecting your business, your brand, and your clients and raising the standard of what’s acceptable in this space.

No fluff. No filters. Just real talk that gets results.
